Tongue Fu and Get Involved, in association with Bristol Old Vic present Animal (Are You a Proper Person?).

If you had a power animal what would it be? Can we choose or do we just get what we're given? Why does life seem intent on derailing the versions of ourselves we want the world to see?

Animal is a new spoken-word musical comedy exploring these questions and more. Mythic drum lessons, awkward parties and explosive one-night stands all feature in a rambunctious show about learning to live with the choices we make and the animals that guide us. It combines storytelling, comedy, music, graphs and wigs.

Chris Redmond – poet and musician - is a regular at UK literature and music festivals. Featured on Pick Of The Week (BBC R4) and Scroobius Pip's Beatdown (XFM), he is the creator and host of Tongue Fu – the UK's leading spoken word and music show, with gigs including Udderbelly, Edinburgh Festival, FLUPP (Brazil) and Word N Sound (South Africa).

"Poetry, but not as you know it...amazing" The Guardian on Tongue Fu.

Anna Freeman is a novelist, international poetry slam champion and creative writing lecturer at Bath Spa University. Her poetry is published by Burning Eye Books and she's performed on BBC R4's Bespoken Word and The Today Program. Her critically acclaimed first novel, The Fair Fight, published by W&N, won the Tibor Jones Pageturner Prize 2013.

"Wonderfully imagined... a brilliant debut" The Times.

The musicians are Riaan Vosloo, Arthur Lea and Patrick Davey whose collective credits include Nostalgia 77, Jamie Cullum and The Puppini Sisters.

Animal has received funding from Arts Council England, Take Art and Bristol Old Vic.
