Henry Lowther plays the trumpet, flügelhorn, cornet, and violin. Lowther also composes jazz and orchestral groups. A rare solo album was completed in 1970 and issued on the Deram Records label. Lowther formed his own band Still Waters in the early 90s. The ensemble included bass player Dave Green, drummer Paul Clarvis, pianist Pete Saberton, and saxophonist Julian Argüelles, and he released an album in 1998.

Henry has toured with various artists in Canada, Europe, and Asia as well as the former Soviet Union and the USA, including with John Harle, the Berlin Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, the London Jazz Composers Orchestra, the New York Composers Orchestra, and Hermeto Pascoal. Lowther has established himself as a first call session musician and has recorded with Bing Crosby, Nelson Riddle, Simon Rattle, Paul McCartney, and Elton John among many others.
