Susan Moore - Contralto, Nicholas Bosworth - Piano

This narrated programme charts the life and career of beloved contralto Kathleen Ferrier from her first singing competition to her death in 1953. Kathleen was adored by the nation from housewives to the operatic elite. What was her universal appeal and why is she still so highly regarded in the singing world today? All is revealed through her story, her words, and her music.

Alongside pianist Nicholas Bosworth, Susan premiered her narrated recital, celebrating the life and career of contralto Kathleen Ferrier, at The Old Corset Factory in the summer of 2012. The programme was then repeated at The Swallow Theatre in 2013 to great critical acclaim.

"The recital is an excellently crafted combination of biography and music. The narration makes good use of extracts from Ferrier's own letters and diaries, and the carefully chosen music is drawn from a range of periods and styles. Susan Moore performs with exemplary attention to detail and a rich emotional palette. Her very able accompanist, Nicholas Bosworth, also contributes two very enjoyable solos to the programme."
