On Saturday 28th Feb, The Dowsing Sound Collective – the immersive sound collective that takes first time and experienced singers, mixes them with pro & semi pro musicians, and gigs them all in serious music venues with full sound, light & staging production - makes its debut in the stunning Union Chapel.

Described by the press as a “harmonic phenomenon bursting onto the scenes like a firecracker” and by its fans as ‘explosive’, ‘a tour de force’, ‘ebullient’, ‘witty’ and ‘sensational’, The DSC is turning the conventional approach to large scale vocal music on its head, getting under the skin of brilliant tracks by brilliant bands (both established and new talent) using c.50 singers and a band of up to ten instrumentalists.

The ‘Unpredictable’ gig set list takes on some serious tracks - from Scandinavian soundscapes to club tango, Canadian singer/songwriters and soaring indie anthems - covering bands as diverse as Goldfrapp, The National, Vampire Weekend, The Gotan Project, Elbow, Sigur Rós and The Wailin’ Jennys.

It’s been an incredible year for The DSC. They’ve continued to attract heavy-weight support in the music industry in the form of Bobby Aitken (sound designer for the Olympics, Paralympics & Winter Olympics) and Autograph Sound, and since the start of 2014 have collaborated with global stars Basement Jaxx, folk hero Boo Hewerdine, and Dirty Freud, dubbed the ‘high wizard of electro dub’.

According to artistic director Andrea Cockerton “people come to our gigs because they're euphoric totally unpredictable, full of adrenalin and because the music we do is brilliant. Many of our fans say that our gigs are the best they’ve ever been to, which is awesome.”
