March Night of the Storyteller

On Thursday 19th March, TailSpin presents an extra special pulse-quickening, funny-bone-tickling, imagination-prickling evening of stories, live music and puppetry.

When she was three years old, Annie's life was unexpectedly skewed. On her 18th birthday, it threatens to happen again. What would you do faced with the responsibility of withdrawing someone’s life support? What would Van Gogh say about it if you hung out with him in his room at Arles? And what does a pigeon called Muhammad Ali eat for breakfast? Funded by Arts Council England, 'Lost in Blue' is a funny, uplifting, poignant and at times, downright bizarre one woman show. This is verbal cinema; innovative storytelling fuelled by sound technology.

Debs is a performer, storyteller and writer who effortlessly brings together and emotively explores the ancient and the urban, the poetic and the irreverent, the epic and the everyday. Debs has fast become one of the UK's most acclaimed Performance Storytellers, enthralling audiences at The Royal Opera House, the British Library, the Southbank Centre, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and BBC Radio, as well as many prestigious festivals both here and abroad. Skeletal rhythms, rotten dances and bone jangling beats - the Death Puppet Klezma Jam is here!

Mirth and Misery invite you to enter their world of putrified puppetry and witness their manipulation of the damned. Combining string and table-top puppetry with the Eastern European music of four piece band Benny and the Cheesegrinder come and watch their puppets perform to the endless bounce of the balkan, klezma beat. Each character has a song and each song tells a story....Who lives? Who dies? Who cares?
