‘the apex of heavy-metal art’ – Rolling Stone
Approaching 50 million sales worldwide and having influenced countless albums since its release in 1980, AC/DC’s ‘Back In Black’ is undoubtedly one of the most successful albums of all time.
‘Behind the Tracks’ is an event that takes a retrospective look at classic albums and their enduring influence today. The series’ first session will take place on 28th June, focusing in on AC/DC’s biggest hit.
The event finds a suitable home at Shoreditch’s legendary Strongroom Studios, an institution that has hosted the likes of Nick Cave, Radiohead, The Prodigy and Rufus Wainwright in recording sessions.
Following a high-quality playback of the album in its entirety, there will be a Q&A session led by Strongroom resident Tony Platt, who was the album’s engineer, and was present at every wall-shaking moment of the album’s creation.
Also joining Tony will be former Kerrang! writer and founding editor of Classic Rock magazine, Mick Wall – a man who has written definitive biographies on the likes of Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and The Doors as well as AC/DC, who he has known for over 30 years. The Q&A will be followed by a screening of the seminal AC/DC live documentary, ‘Let There Be Rock’.
Tickets to this special event are strictly limited to 100 and are priced at £50, which includes entry to the album talk, playback and film screening, complimentary drink courtesy of Jack Daniels, and complimentary snacks. The first 50 ticketholders will even receive a signed copy of Mick’s AC/DC biography ‘Hell Ain’t a Bad Place to Be’.
