For one night, and one night only, immerse yourself in history with the National Army Museum’s free pop-up cinema. Commemorating the 200-year anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo, the National Army Museum is hosting immersive screenings of the 1970 classic film ‘Waterloo’.

The BAFTA-winning masterpiece, starring Rod Steiger as the French dictator Napoleon Bonaparte and Christopher Plummer as the British victor the Duke of Wellington, is renowned for its historical accuracy, clearly explaining a complicated plot with multiple characters without bowing to pressure to include more action scenes. To mark the bicentenary of the Battle the National Army Museum is offering cinema-goers the chance to experience the film like never before for free.

Located in the atmospheric Vaults under Waterloo Station, those who venture into its depths will find characters from the film awaiting them in smoky corridors. What’s more, visitors will be invited to taste food and drink from the past, to fully immerse them into the mindset of the 1800s.

With three-quarters of Brits recently admitting they have little or no knowledge about the Battle of Waterloo, the pop-up cinema screening is the perfect opportunity to brush up on your history knowledge, and make sure you know all about one of the most important battles in British and European history.
