Discover the internationally renowned collection of over 1 million pressed, dried and mounted plants from around the world at our special excursion to the Cambridge University Herbarium.

Normally only open to the public by special appointment, The Herbarium at Cambridge University is a large and internationally significant collection of plant specimens, including most of the plants Charles Darwin collected on the HMS Beagle voyage. During this trip a member of the Herbarium staff will give visitors a special guided tour of the collection, focusing specifically on displays illustrating the position of gardeners and plant hunters in colonial history. The guided tour will also offer the opportunity to see up close many plant treasures, including material collected by Charles Darwin, as well as fascinating original botanical illustrations and rare books.

Ticket holders will be picked up at The Mosaic Rooms at 9am and driven to Cambridge where they will tour the displays, returning to The Mosaic Rooms at 3pm for light refreshments and a tour with the curator of Corinne Silva’s photography exhibition Garden State.
