We're a ridiculously friendly local comedy club showcasing the best of hand-picked new talent from the circuit as well as welcoming famous faces from the telly who drop in regularly to try new stuff.
We're on every other Friday (more or less) and always have at least half a dozen acts on the bill.
Previous acts: Milton Jones, Lucy Porter, Hal Cruttenden, Josh Widdicombe, Sara Pascoe, John Robins, Luisa Omielan, Danielle Ward, Rachel Parris, Tom Webb, Sy Thomas, Stephen Bailey plus our favourite new acts Mr Susie, David Mills, Laurence Owen, Lindsay Sharman, Tom Ward, Ian Lane.
We love a bit of musical comedy and pride ourselves on our mixed bills (we strive for a 50-50 male-female ratio and a mix of stand-up and more alternative sets).
Our resident MC is BBC Radio 4's Viv Groskop (Saturday Live, Loose Ends): "Very funny" -- Omid Djalili.
Let the Dead Parrot surprise and delight you!

Starring

MC _ Viv Groskop

Viv has a new solo stand-up show Say Sorry to the Lady coming to Edinburgh in 2015. She is the author of a stand-up meets mid-life crisis memoir I Laughed, I Cried: One Woman, 100 Days, The Mother of All Challenges (Phoenix). The book ranked No. 1 in Hot New Releases (comedy) on Amazon.co.uk in 2013.

Viv is artistic Director of the Independent Bath Literature Festival which celebrated its 20th anniversary in March 2015 with a spectacular 10-day festival for an audience of 20,000 with 160+ events and 200+ authors including Kazuo Ishiguro, David Nicholls, Rachel Cusk, Linda Grant, Sadie Jones.

Dave Green
Dave Green has been doing stand-up comedy since 2011. Since then his surreal one liners and deadpan delivery have fast proved popular with audiences and promoters alike. In 2013 he won the wild card vote in the BBC New Comedy Award securing him a place in the semi final which was broadcast on BBC Radio 2. In 2014 he was nominated by a panel of industry professionals to take part in the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year. He is also a finalist in the Leicester Square New Comedian 2012 and is the winner of the Comedy Knights Fresh Comedian 2014.

“Fantastically original gags”- Bruce Dessau, Beyond The Joke

“Could be a contender to follow in the footsteps of Milton Jones”.- Steve Bennett, Chortle

“Quietly and cleverly subversive”– James Punnett, The Bearcat

Lindsay Sharman
Sharman began her comedy career in 2009. After reaching the finals of the 2010 Funny Women awards, she took two shows to the 2011 Edinburgh Festival Fringe - Giants Of Comedy and A Time Traveller's Guide to Surviving Childhood as part of PBH's Free Fringe. At Edinburgh 2012, she performed in George Ryegold's God-In-A-Bag at the Underbelly Bristo Square.

She now performs in character as Madame Magenta and as The Poet, and took her first solo show Madame Magenta: Libros Mystica to Edinburgh in 2014.

“A face-changing, voice-morphing Joyce Grenfell for the 21st century”
- John Fleming

“Utterly delightful and funny. Very funny.” -The List

“A joyous roam through esoteric realms, brimming with hilarious hocus pocus and magical mirth.” - GayTimes

Laurence Owen
2014 Musical Comedy Awards finalist Laurence Owen has been a staple of the comedy and cabaret circuits since early 2012.
Backed either by his trademark shrunken guitar or a canned cinematic orchestra, Laurence's musical style is unusually dramatic and far-reaching for a comedy act, and is packed with melodramatic storytelling, spiky observations and meticulous attention to detail.

Laurence made his solo debut at the Edinburgh Fringe 2014 with his hour-long show, Lullabies Of Pervland. He is currently working on his second show, Cinemusical, which will debut in 2015.

Aside from comedy, he is also an award-winning film and theatre composer. Visit his composer website, www.laurenceowen.co.uk for details.

"Wickedly funny... Brilliant stuff" - This Is Cabaret

"He looks like a distinguished chap, but beneath that elevated exterior beats a heart of darkness" - Steve Bennett, Chortle

"A joy to listen to... Owen will be finding fun and insightful material for years to come." - The Stage

"Genius... a glorious shot of pure dark satire." - Broadway Baby

"Horrible yes, but also very funny." - Bruce Dessau, Evening Standard

"Pumps out killer rhyme after killer rhyme and the audience laps it up like starving children" - London City Nights.

Mr Susie
Mr Susie, the loveable but clueless alien from the other side of the universe, has one hour to save cabaret here on earth. Such a pity he has no idea what cabaret is. Or why he keeps hearing the insane ramblings of Marcia Godella-Birdo, a faded old has-been determined to save her beloved Voodoo Rooms from the wrecking ball.
Part cabaret, part character-comedy, this is a whirlwind tour of every conceivable cabaret genre

“Promise to go to Mr Susie’s Last Chance Cabaret. This is a brilliant show.” -The Guardian.

“Rib-crushingly hilarious” - Mumble Comedy.

“Stupidly childish, feel-good whimsical fun” - EdFest Magazine.

“100% charming and totally hilarious. *****” remotegoat. co.uk
