Damon Brown

An international recording artist, Damon is unquestionably one of the most talented of the current crop of British trumpet players. A versatile musician, he is equally at home with pop or jazz, although jazz is quite definitely his first love. Greatly respected on the scene his fluent and highly melodic playing has been heard with the likes of Benny Golson, Steve Grossman and Dave Liebman. The quintet’s set is a mix of standards and original material played in a seriously impressive way. The Guardian described Damon’s recent outfit as “a coolly authoritative bebop band…”. Joining Damon on the front line will be one of the UK's most imaginative and respected alto sax players, Christian Brewer, who includes work with the likes of Julian Joseph, Jason Rebello and US sax star Dave Schnitter on an impressive cv. Completing the line up will be Leon Greening-piano, Adam King-bass and Matt Skelton-drums. You can expect great things from the gig tonight.
