Join Joe Studman as he talks about the medieval guilds that dominated trade in The City for over 500 years.
The Worshipful Company of Haberdashers originally dealt in small wares; ribbons, pins, beads & purses. By the time Sir Nicholas Rainton became a member the Guild was dominated by merchants importing luxury silks, damasks and taffetas. This talk will explore the guild’s earlier functions along with The Embroiders, the Basketmakers, Cordwainers and other craft guilds. This talk is programmed to coincide with the "The Victoria Kitchen Garden: an exhibition by Enfield and District Embroiderers' Guild". For further information please visit the exhibition page on the Forty Hall estate Website.
(Please Note: Finishing time is approximate).
Bar opens at 6.30pm.
