The first contemporary dance feature film to be shot in Brazil, Ashes of God merges the languages of cinema and dance. The critically acclaimed film, directed by Andre Semenza and choreographed by Fernanda Lippi, was shot by award-winning British Director of Photography Marcus Waterloo.
Inspired by Ovid’s Metamorphoses, Ashes of God features a cast of consummate Brazilian dancers and a haunting soundtrack mixed by arguably France’s premier producer Kid Loco, featuring Boleros, music by René Aubry, Silver Mt Zion, Erkki-Sven Tüür, Lepo Sumero, amongst others. The film was dubbed at Pinewood Studios, supervised by BAFTA and Academy Award® winner Glenn Freemantle.
Presented by Maverick Motion and Zikzira Physical Theatre.
