Generations of readers have laughed and cried as they followed the adventures of the four March girls, growing up in New England during and just after the American Civil War. There’s Meg, the oldest, who longs for pretty clothes and hates being pitied and patronised by rich friends; feisty Jo who wishes she were a boy and dreams of being a writer; shy, kind, musical Beth with her kittens and dolls; and would-be artist Amy, the baby of the family, always fed up at being left out by the others. And of course there’s Laurie, the rich boy next door. . .

This adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s semi-autobiographical coming-of-age tale spans a period of ten years as our “Little Women” journey from girlhood to womanhood, via sisterly squabbles and fashion disasters, setbacks and successes in love and careers, tragedy and happiness.

A charming autumn theatrical treat from the Woodhouse Players.

2.30 performance on Saturday 26 September will be BSL-interpreted
