Moonlight Saving Time combines bold improvisation with atmospheric grooves and world rhythms to create a unique sound in contemporary jazz. Led by vocalist Emily Wright (“raw and unique” – Jacqui Dankworth), her crystal clear, honest-toned voice creates soaring melody lines and cut-glass harmonies with the trumpet playing of acclaimed improviser Nick Malcolm.
Their debut album Meeting At Night, produced by Ben Lamdin (Nostalgia 77, Jamie Cullum) and featuring stellar saxophonist Jason Yarde, is officially launched at this exclusive show at The Forge.
“Blew my mind” – Gilles Peterson
Moonlight Saving Time have dazzled audiences up and down the country with appearances at London, Cheltenham, Manchester and Brecon Jazz Festivals. Their debut EP was released in 2012 to critical acclaim and, discovered by DJ Gilles Peterson, led to a live session broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and BBC 6 Music. Winners of the 2013 Emerging Excellence award and ‘Best Newcomer’ at the Marlborough Jazz Festival, these five friends who started out playing jazz standards in Bristol clubs are poised to make a big impact on the UK jazz scene.
