Wine Tasting 4 Week Course: Discover Italy

Taste beautiful Barolos, velvety Valpolicella, charming Chianti's amongst many others. We will explore regions such as Piedmont, Veneto, Tuscany, Umbria, Lazio, Lombardia, Puglia, Trentino, and Sicily. Four whole weeks dedicated to Italy enabling us to unravel the mysteries and delights of Italian wine.

We will taste some of the myriad of indigenous grapes that make Italian wine so different and intriguing including - Nebbiolo (Barolo), Sangiovese (Chianti), Corvina (Valpolicella), and Barbera. Italy can be the most confusing wine country to get to know, with its enormous diversity of wine styles, often from the same town! It is, however, worth spending a little time to understand it, with the discoveries amply repaying the effort involved.

We will wander through the north of the country, from the NW (Piedmont) to the NE (Veneto), through Tuscany and the Marches to the warm south (Puglia, Campania, and Sicily).
You will experience, first hand, the amazing range of grape varieties and flavours that Italy has to offer. You will taste some classic Italian wines, along with some new- wave wines from really cutting-edge winemakers.

Course Outline (all Thursdays 7-9pm):

29th October- Session 1 -North and West - Piemonte, Trentino Alto-Adige, Lombardy
5th November - Session 2 - North-East and East - Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Marche
12th November - Session 3 - Central Italy - Tuscany, Umbria, Lazio, Abruzzo
19th November - Session 4 - South and Islands - Campania, Puglia, Sicily, Sardinia

All tastings are tutored with a digital presentation and you will receive full tasting notes, a tasting sheet and food nibbles.

Course Fee Structure The course fee is
£100. As a way of spreading the cost we ask for £60 on booking then £10 in cash payable on the evening.

Can also be booked as individual evenings.
