The show at the Bowman Gallery consists of paintings, watercolours drawings publications and cards by Jan Lee Johnson.
There is a strong floral element in some of the paintings being shown in the ‘vanitas’ theme associated with Dutch Flower Painting: the transience of earthly life is depicted in the ravishingly beautiful tulips, known as Rembrandt Tulips, the striking colours and markings on the flower becoming a painterly obsession.
Also showing are Life Drawings with an accompanying illustrated book and watercolours inspired by the artists travels in Portugal, and drawings which are created on the ipad with a stylus, and finished with coloured pencil.
