Czech artist Michal Trpák's 'Slight Uncertainty' installation was originally made to be hung next to an office centre in Prague. Since then the people dangling so beautifully from their umbrella parachutes have been exhibited in Tuscany and at Secret Garden Party, and will now be hanging from the branches of Leicester Square's plane trees for its many visitors and passers-by to admire.

Brought to London for the first time by Heart of London Business Alliance, in collaboration with 4ourcreativearts, Leicester Square will see artist Michal Trpak’s beautiful ‘umbrella people’ flying amongst the plane trees of Leicester Gardens in a stunning Autumnal installation.

The theatrical piece encourages people to stop, look up and enjoy the trees and the Square.

Artist, Michal Trpak commented: “It is an honour to show these pieces for the first time in London, in one of the most famous Squares of London. I call the pieces Slight Uncertainty, Slight because of seeming lightness of flying but Uncertainty because of unsure landing and unknown length of the flight.”

Karen Baines, Head of Marketing & Communications at Heart of London Business Alliance explains: “Following on from our Talking Tulips installation in May, we are delighted to bring Michal’s work to London. An average week sees 1.5m people visit Leicester Square, mostly busy passers-by. We want to re-ignite people’s love for the Square, reflecting and enhancing its quirky and dynamic characteristics. Heart of London Business Alliance is creating a series of unexpected art installations in the Square, that encourage visitors and Londoners alike to head to this exciting destination and explore the activities going on in both the gardens and the surrounding businesses.’

Stephan Dowers: “4OurCreativeArts aim is to interpret the clients needs and integrate the emotion and aesthetic of the environment created by the Artist. This particular project encompasses the theatrical nature and history of Leicester Square with the
playful figures that capture either a commuter or a scene from a film or play."

The installation, which was commissioned by Heart of London Business Alliance and supported by Westminster City Council, is free to visit.
