Tony Christie recently celebrated 50 years in music and now he is back on the road with a new album.
Tony will be singing the hits that made him famous, including Is This the Way to Amarillo, I did what I did for Maria, Avenues and Alleyways, Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast and many more.
Tony was propelled back to fame in 2005 after the re-release of Is This the Way to Amarillo featuring Peter Kay for Comic Relief. The single reached no. 1, staying in the charts for seven weeks.
More recently, Tony has recorded a collaborative Irish Folk album with new folk cross over band Ranagri. The end result is an album titled The Great Irish Song Book and takes Tony back to his Irish roots and he has dedicated this album to Paddy Fitzgerald, his father who passed on ten years ago. Tony's father and grandparents were part of a traveling Ceilidh band from Co Mayo and he has recorded some of the songs that he remembers dearly from his childhood. The Great Irish Song Book will be released on Wrasse / Universal Music Group on September 18th.
"I can't tell you how, but I always knew I could sing." - Tony Christie.
