Icon of Freedom is a festival that celebrates the life and work of the most unusual freedom fighter, Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz, a 17th Century Mexican nun. She fought against all social rules for her right to knowledge and self expression, becoming a key figure in Latin American culture. Icon of Freedom will show how she is relevant to contemporary London through a range of art forms; from film and visual arts to fashion and gastronomy.

Icon of Freedom is a collaboration between SHM Foundation in London, and Claustro de Sor Juana University in Mexico City, with support from the Mexican Embassy in the UK as part of the Dual Year, of Mexico and the UK.

This is a free exhibition, however the gastronomy event is ticked
