One of Europe's leading male jazz vocalists, award-winning Hungarian singer Gabor Winand has been at the forefront of the European modern jazz movement for almost 30 years. As well as vocals Gabor is also an experienced and fluent clarinet, sax and flute player, but it is his singing which has established him as one of Hungary's finest jazz musicians. His unique and captivating style has been a constant presence on the international jazz scene, seeing performances by Gabor at Clubs and Festivals around the world. He has worked with the likes of Al Jarreau and the French magazine Jazzman awarded his solo album, "Corners of My Mind" the “Choc de l’année” prize, naming it one of the outstanding albums of the year. As well as a performer Gabor is also a well established educator, holding teaching seminars not only in his home country of Hungary but also around Europe. These days he can be found performing with his own quartet, in duo with the iconic Hungarian pianist Béla Szakcsi Lakatos as well as singing and playing flute and sax in the Latin band of his wife, the Cuban singer Elsa Valle. Appearing with Gabor tonight will be the brilliant UK rhythm section of Tim Lapthorn-piano, Arnie Somogyi-bass and Martin France-drums.

“…effective at singing in this type of relaxed intimate setting” AllMusic
