On April the 15th, Home Normal will be hosting a wonderful night of music at The Brewhouse, in London Fields Brewery, with the legendary electronic music pioneers ISAN. This is a unique chance to catch ISAN who rarely perform live, this being their first official show for a number of years just prior to their latest release for the classic Morr label.

We are thrilled that ISAN will be joined by some of our favourite electronic artists around today in Digitalis outfit Paco Sala, former Hood and The Remote Viewer member A New Line (Related), and Where To Now’s very own R. Elizabeth.

ARTIST INFORMATION

ISAN are an English electronic music duo. The name was initially explained as Integrated Services Analogue Network - a play on ISDN, reflecting their preference for analogue synthesisers.

From minimalism to melody and back again, Isan have been navigating the aural Autobahn since a chance meeting brought together Robin Saville and Antony Ryan in 1996. With Robin based in Southend on Sea, England and Antony residing in Denmark, they creatively communicate via email, telephone and postcard. Notes are compared and directions assimilated or abandoned, they prefer to allow their sound to develop on its own.

Having recorded for a variety of micro-indies such as Bad Jazz, Static Caravan and Wurlitzer Jukebox, Saville and Ryan now consider Morr Music their spiritual home.
Continually progressing their passion for sound, Isan are not afraid of giving their analogue tone poems space to breathe, placing as much importance on void and silence as on sounds – sometimes vibrant and scratchy, sometimes hymnal and opulent. Their sonic design sits somewhere between the Düsseldorf sounds of Kraftwerk and neu!, the invention of a young Eno and the smart-pop expertise of the Cocteau Twins.

They’ve remixed and been remixed by the likes of Depeche Mode, The Notwist, Seefeel and Piano Magic amongst others. Isan have also brought their Kosmische confection to the stage, gracing respected festivals such as Sonar and the Big Chill and playing as far afield as China, Japan, Iceland, Russia and Hull.

This marks their first live performance in a number of years however, and we are thrilled to be finally bringing them together again on these shores for a very rare outing indeed.

Paco Sala are a duo based in London. Appearing on the Digitalis label, they previously released the highly praised ‘Ro-me-ro’, and most recently, ‘Put Your Hands On Me’. Paco Sala is the work of producer Anthony Harrison (Home Normal’s very own Konntinent), working with celestially enigmatic vocalist, Birch (previously Leyli), who between them evoke a dream-state of introspective ambience, solitary R&B and heavenly-crushed Pop.

They have gained a great deal of recognition for their work, but perhaps Boomkat said it best, describing ‘Ro-me-ro’ as: ‘a killer amalgam of squashed beats, lo-fi pop and narcotic, slo-jams hugely recommended if you're into Hype Williams, Nite Jewel or Julee Cruise.’

A New Line (Related) is the work of Andrew Johnson. Andrew was an early and longstanding member of Domino records' artcore crew Hood before, (along with bedroom cdr luminary Craig Tattersall), forming the breakaway bedroom-electronic duo, The Remote Viewer. With his own record label Moteer pretty much put to bed, Andrew has most recently been focusing on releasing revered work, such as his self-titled 2014 debut, as well as the recent, ‘Our Lady Of Perpetual Fucking Succour.’

Utilising tools from the early days of home produced underground dance music (such as SK5 sampler keyboards and vintage drum machines) Andrew has unearthed beautiful work of downbeat, lamp-lit techno, industrial grade ambience and sonic experimentation which at times recalls early Warp Records, Gescom and raw, 313 area Beatdown House, as well as the more modern breed of electronic and techno travellers such as Actress, Mark Fell (Lat
