Cityread London is an annual celebration of literature that
aims to bring reading to life for the whole capital. Each April, Cityread asks London’s citizens, workers and visitors to pick up a book – the same book – and read it together. Taking the chosen novel as a starting point, a month-long programme of book groups, film screenings and other events takes place across all 33 London boroughs in libraries, bookshops, museums and other venues.
The Cityread London 2016 title is Gillian Slovo's gripping political thriller 'Ten Days'. Alongside many other exciting events, this year's festival will feature a digital storytelling installation with sound and stories provided by Audible in The Gallery at Foyles, Charing Cross Road. “Stories from the City” will open at Foyles on 31 March and run until 7 May. There will also be smaller mobile installations which will tour London’s libraries throughout the month of April.
For more information about the different events that are taking place across London, please visit the Cityread London website or contact your local library.
