The Individual in Conflict

Changing the Landscape is delighted to present a special programme of talks with a Q&A panel discussion:

- Award winning photographer Stuart Franklin will discuss his work capturing the 1989 protests in Tiananmen Square - including the now iconic image Tank Man.

- Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist Dr. Tim McInerny will explore the relationship between the First World War, mental illness and the subsequent developments in psychiatric care.

- Principal Military Specialist at The National Archives William Spencer will offer a personal and professional viewpoint in relation to the Battle of the Somme and the war as a whole.

The National Archives is proud to present Changing the Landscape - a multimedia arts exhibition by artist Sarah Kogan, inspired by the unpublished collection of over 180 daily letters and photographic postcards written and illustrated by her great uncle, Barney Griew, a map maker and scout who died at the Battle of the Somme, 1916.

The exhibition runs from Tuesday 12 April to Saturday 17 September, along with a series of related events - supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
