Four years on from the dazzling 2012 Games, the Olympic spirit is returning to London. Rio de Janeiro is hosting the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, bringing together athletes from more than 200 nations in a celebration of sport. As it’s the very first time the Games have been held in South America, a proper celebration is needed – and London can’t be left out!

We therefore invite you to Brazil Day 2016 in Trafalgar Square – an unmissable opportunity to celebrate the Rio Games, Brazilian culture, and the country’s passion for sport.

Attractions will include live Brazilian music, DJs, sport, and much more. The music will reflect the cultural diversity of Brazil – from alluring bossa nova to the powerful beat of samba. There’ll be a street-carnival atmosphere in the Square – even Lord Nelson will be tapping his feet!

There will be a sporting dimension to the event, with interactive games, and highlights of the Rio 2016 Games shown on a big screen.

To make sure the energy level never drops, food stalls will be selling Brazilian street food and refreshments. Look out for the churrasco barbecue, Amazonian superfood açaí, pão de queijo (cheesebread), and other treats.

There will be a wide range of access facilities.

Brazil Day 2016 is being organized by the Embassy of Brazil in London in partnership with Brazil’s Ministry of Sport and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (APEX). The event is supported by the Mayor of London.
