Join us for Halloween Saturday in the Gothic splendor of Stephens House for a screening of Silent Masterpiece by F.W. Murnau.
Nosferatu is the earliest surviving screen adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula novel and has had a long and dangerous life of its own.
Shot in 1921 and released in 1922, Stoker's heirs sued over the adaptation and a court ruling ordered that all copies of the film be destroyed. However, a few prints survived and the film came to be regarded as an influential masterpiece of cinema and film has outlasted many others of the silent era.
