The youngest, but by no means the least, of the great Roma Lakatos musical dynasty, Sandor "Soso" Lakatos is a seriously gifted saxophone player who has already made quite a name for himself around Europe. Something of a prodigy, he did his first paid gig at the age of 12 and by 16 was the soloist in the young Hungarian band Next Generation that came third at the Getxo International Jazz Festival in 2003. Still in his teens he moved to Holland to study with the likes of Branford Marsalis, Gerard Presencer and Brad Mehldau and since then has performed to considerable acclaim in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Finland, Sweden, Russia and the Ukraine. He toured in Israel, Jordan and Colombia with the Serbian World-Jazz Orchestra and in 2012 he won the Keep An Eye International Jazz Award for best composition. Now back in his native Hungary, as well as leading his own groups, his incisive and creative playing is in considerable demand amongst the leading bands of the Hungarian Jazz scene. Performing this evening witha hand-picked UK rhythm section, this promises to be a very special evening of high quality modern jazz. Highly recommended.
