TROUGH is a homosocial dance party named after a vessel that pigs drink from. Founded and hosted by Nik Dimopoulos in Melbourne and Sydney Australia.

For over 10 years TROUGH has amalgamated jocks, bears, hunks, queers, beards, twinks and in-betweeners into one pretty mess on the dance-floor. As diverse as the crowd so is the music, with djs slamming Berlin-esque (m)anthems, deep house, sexy beats and throbbing baselines to a dark room of a sweaty pit.

TROUGH is notorious for its visionary photographic imagery and epic video art-promos, all produced and art directed by the creator, Nik Dimopoulos. This body of work not only adds a strong and artistic look to the practical details of the parties: where, what, when and who is playing, but carries a distinctive vision into the event itself. For each promotional campaign Nik Dimopoulos explores sexual practise and fetish as its theme. He combines both the sexual and the sometimes absurdist nature of fetishised ideas and attractions using everyday found objects and DIY crafting, fused together with the ‘hot’ talent he sources from the events themselves. Combined with the masc-tastic multimedia / performance / installation / laser and projection spectacular, TROUGH firmly puts the ART back into p-ART-y!

VAULT Festival, with its brutally beautiful underground and mind-altering spaces, is the perfect habitat to explore this extraordinary dance party. TROUGH is strictly for the broadminded.

Headline DJ announced!

BORIS (OstGut Ton, Berlin) is a kind of charismatic all-purpose weapon in the Berlin club scene. He will often helm the controls of BERGHAIN for marathon sets that stretch from night into morning and on to afternoon playing uncompromising sets ranging from Hi-NRG, Deep / Tech-House to Post-Punk and Techno.

BORIS became a resident at PANORAMA BAR’s first incarnation in Berlin, where he was able to build a loyal following by playing long epic sets lasting until noon. After the old OSTGUT / PANORAMA BAR closed, Boris played in almost every club in Berlin until the follow up club BERGHAIN opened its monumental doors in 2004. Until this present day BORIS is one of BERGHAIN’s long standing resident DJs and has also slayed the decks at some of the biggest internationally acclaimed annual gay fetish parties like SNAX (Berlin) and BLACK PARTY (New York). We are proud to have BORIS jet in from Berlin to headline a 3 hour DJ set for the launch of TROUGH in London’s brutalist underground-maze The VAULTS.
