Opticians and Audiologists invite residents to celebrate 30th birthday bash

Business guru and Specsavers co-founder, Dame Mary Perkins, will be making a guest appearance at Romford’s South Street store this Tuesday to help celebrate thirty successful years of trading in the town.

Dame Mary, who began the world’s largest optical chain more than three decades ago with her husband Doug Perkins, will be cutting cake and having tea with staff and residents to mark the anniversary of one of the company’s longest established branches.

Specsavers Romford was the twenty first store to launch and has welcomed hundreds of staff and thousands of customers through the doors since its inception. The celebrations will start at 10am on Tuesday January 31, with staff offering deals for new customers, along with an abundance of other in-store treats.

The team will also be joined by charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, who will be bringing along one of their heroic hounds that has been specially trained to transform the lives of deaf people by alerting them to sounds and allowing them greater independence.

Speaking about the birthday event, store director Kevan Green adds: ‘Our team is 40-strong and has more than 300 years of combined optical and hearing audiology experience! We’re always looking to support young people in the area by providing opportunities for a successful career in optics and audiology.’

The original director of 30 years, Kevan, and his fellow directors, Bhavi Mistry and Andrew Aiston along with the team at Romford, pride themselves on offering a professional and friendly service to all their customers, who can enjoy a range of designer brands while benefitting from the latest in optical and hearing technology.
