The St Peter’s Prize is awarded each year in partnership with the Royal Academy of Music to the string quartet at the Academy which shows the most promise. 2017 winner the Halcyon Quartet presents three works by masters of the string quartet form. Pieces by Haydn and Beethoven are performed alongside Borodin’s second quartet, which provided many tunes for the 1953 Broadway musical Kismet.
The Halcyon Quartet was formed at the RAM in 2012, and has already performed at the Wigmore Hall, Dartington and for BBC Radio 3.
