IKEA Live LAGOM

IKEA has announced that it will be launching a Live LAGOM event in Westfield Stratford City from the 21st February 2017.

The IKEA Live LAGOM Event will be open for the public to attend free workshops from 22nd – 26th February. Sessions will include tips and tricks on how to live the LAGOM lifestyle, aimed at helping people to live more sustainably.

A Swedish lifestyle trend that is growing in popularity in the UK, ‘LAGOM’ comes from the Swedish phrase “LAGOM är bäst” meaning the right amount is best, a trend that IKEA is championing as it aims to help the nation live more sustainably.

The new event will explore the key aspects of living ‘LAGOM’ - not denying yourself what you love, whilst also not taking from the planet more than you need. The space will help visitors to see how they can still have a beautiful, comfortable home, whilst thinking about the environment.

The events will be hosted in the IKEA Stratford Order and Collection Point with LAGOM food sampling in the pop-up food bistro opposite and will include insightful talks and activities to help engage the public in embracing a LAGOM lifestyle.

Workshops are free and can be booked online

• Fermenting and Waste Management

Hosted by Richard Bowman (formerly of Clove Club and Portland), this workshop will showcase the health and environmental benefits of composting fruit and vegetables as a means of waste management.

• Energy Efficient Cooking
Aimed at those looking to use less energy and save more money, this workshop will help attendees look at reducing their own energy consumption, particularly when it comes to the kitchen. Tips will include energy efficient recipes and best practice for keeping and using up leftovers. The workshop will be hosted by Ren of Ren’s Kitchen.

• Cycle Safe in the City
For those who would like to get cycling and save money on travel (whilst getting fit and helping the environment!). There will be adult cycling proficiency tips and advice to help confidence, as well as an outdoor space to practice new skills on IKEA’s SLADDA bike.

The IKEA Live LAGOM event will also be selling solutions to help support these new-found skills including food storage, water bottles and waste management products – all sleek and stylish designs at affordable prices.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, visitors will be able to meet with participants from the IKEA Live LAGOM initiative to hear hints and tips as well as find out more about their experiences living in a LAGOM lifestyle.
