London Evening Standard is excited to launch a major new food festival to be held annually from June 2017. A month-long celebration filled with hundreds of events throughout the world’s culinary capital.

Creative directors Grace Dent and Tom Parker Bowles will curate a vibrant showcase of our culinary diversity across every corner of London. Fay Maschler, Britain’s longest-standing and respected restaurant critic, will be selecting her 50 favourite places to eat.

London Food Month will promote special collaborations, and unique experiences across the industry to offer a programme of must-see, eat and drink events. From high-end dinners to free community events, old favourites done differently to the latest lunch hotspots, it will have something for everyone.

The centrepiece of London Food Month is Night Market. This June, for 12 nights only, Perks Field near Kensington Gardens will be filled with 50 of London’s street food stars, restaurants and top chefs including Angela Hartnett, Andina, Fortnum & Mason, Aisa de Cuba, Patty & Bun, Zoe’s Ghana Kitchen, Le Bao, Mama’s Jerk, Muffin Man & Co, Rainbo, The Cheese Truck, Vinn Goute and many more.

Beyond the food, a Westfield open-air cinema* will offer something for everyone, from family favourites and Disney classics, to 2017 Oscar winners including La La Land. Plus, live music and DJs including Jimmy K-Tel, Russ Jones, Sam Redmore, Nicola Robinson and Jim Wood.

London’s own legendary DJ Norman Jay will kick off the first night. Over the next 12 nights there will be a host of other DJs including Jimmy K-Tel, Ruby Savage, Cal Jader, Russ Jones, DJ Shepdog and Mr Shiver.

Also appearing on opening night is Massimo Bottura. Join creative director Grace Dent for an informative Q&A with Massimo on his latest collaboration with London Food Month, Refettorio Felix at St Cuthbert’s. Here, attendees can learn how this pioneering community project is fighting food waste and supporting social inclusion in west London. The idea of Refettorio Felix was conceived by Food For Soul, a non-profit organisation that fights against food waste in support of social inclusion and individual wellbeing. Supported by the London Evening Standard, Felix Project, St Cuthbert’s and partners, Refettorio Felix will use surplus food to feed guests from socially vulnerable backgrounds.

Osteria Francescana, Massimo’s three-Michelin star restaurant based in Modena, Italy, has been ranked in the top five at The World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards since 2010 including being rated No. 1 in 2016.
