In conjunction with the Crafts Council’s ‘Hey Clay!’ event, the Committee of Taste is delighted to welcome back the wonderful ceramicist Jo Davies to the Stables Café, Gladstone Park. ‘Hey Clay!’ is a national celebration of clay with events nationwide throughout 7th – 9th April and we are thrilled to be taking part in this years programme of events with Jo and our potter in residence, Isatu Hyde.

From Friday 7th April – Friday 14th April, there will be an exhibition of Jo Davies’ ceramics with the opportunity to view and purchase her unique range of porcelain vessels, tableware and lighting. We are thrilled to be hosting a series of events to coincide with Jo’s exhibition.

Friday 7th April : Opening event 6pm – 8pm. Jo Davies will be at the Stables Café to launch our ‘Hey Clay!’ exhibition and events. A wonderful opportunity to meet the ceramicist herself and pick up some beautiful pieces.

Saturday 8th April : An informal talk by Jo Davies 12.00pm – 12.30pm. A wonderful opportunity to find out more about her practice and inspirations. Jo will also talk about getting into a creative/ceramics career and will be happy to take questions from budding creatives on this subject. Free event.

Saturday 8th April: Creative porcelain workshop lead by Jo Davies 3pm – 5pm. Participants will create functional and non-functional artwork by imprinting textures, plants and objects into porcelain clay creating embossed images onto the surface of your own unique objects – from plates to platters to ‘clay canvases’, make art you can hang on the wall or even eat from! This workshop will provide a wonderful opportunity for participants of all abilities to get creative under the guidance of Jo. No prior experience necessary. £35 per person. This includes tuition, materials, kiln firing & tea/coffee.

Sunday 9th April: Taster wheel-throwing sessions led by the Committee of Taste’s wonderful Potter in Residence, Isatu Hyde 10am – 3pm. Have you always wanted to have a go on the potter’s wheel? This is your chance to try it out. This highly respected craft, dating back thousands of years, is trickier than it looks but great fun to try. Attendees will get the opportunity to have a go at throwing a pot on a potter’s wheel under the brilliant guidance of Isatu. Free session. Each session will be 20 – 30 minutes long.

Booking for all events is essential.
