Visitors to Bluewater Shopping Centre will be transported 6,500 miles to Singapore this weekend (8, 9 April) thanks to an exclusive #GetintoSingapore experience.

Curated by Singapore Tourism Board in partnership with Thomas Cook, Singaporean chefs Jeremy Cheok and Edward Yew – from New Ubin Seafood Restaurant in Singapore, recently recognised by Michelin with a Bib Gourmand rating – will be serving guests an authentic Singaporean-inspired dish, in the form of chicken (or vegetarian) curry-filled vol au vents.

But the food is just the beginning as guests are transported, via virtual reality experiences, to Singapore. The experience will see them take in some of the destinations top sights, including China Town, Little India, and the Merlion Park, before being whisked off to Singapore’s Botanic Gardens – a UNESCO World Heritage site – and ending up in the hustle and bustle of one of Singapore’s famous food markets – or hawker centres as they are known in South East Asia.

To fully immerse visitors in the cultures and sights of Singapore, the two chefs - from one of Singapore’s top seafood restaurants - have been flown in especially for the weekend’s activities, which will be themed in the style of an authentic hawker centre. There will even be a ‘garden room’ allowing guests to enjoy a calm and tranquil setting as they try the virtual reality experience.

Finally, visitors will get the chance to grab a selfie with one of the most photographed men in Singapore – Narajan Singh. Narajan has been welcoming guests at the main entrance of Singapore world-famous Raffles Hotel for 25 years – and for one weekend only will be doing so for guests at the #GetintoSingapore experience in Bluewater.

There will even be the opportunity to win a holiday for two to Singapore, passes to this year’s Singapore Grand Prix, and a whole host of other prizes.

Singapore is known for its intense love for food which has helped the country develop into one of the world’s top foodie destinations, with a vibrant offering of cuisine; from Michelin Starred restaurants, to hawker markets and food festivals. Indeed, twenty-nine restaurants in Singapore were recognised in the inaugural Michelin Guide Singapore in 2016.

The experience can be located at the Moon Court in Bluewater.
