Italian Afternoon Tea At Osteria To Celebrate Easter

Restaurant In Collaboration with Chef Anthony Demetre

England is famous for the iconic Afternoon Tea but how about trying a truly Italian interpretation at Osteria, a restaurant created by Searcys in collaboration with Anthony Demetre a year ago (Launched Arbutus in Soho in 2006 and Wild Honey in Mayfair in 2007).

With Easter fast approaching the Osteria team have decided to take a fresh look at the quintessential English dining moments and sprinkle some Italian inspiration on proceedings.
First the sandwich tier is transformed by using authentic Italian breads such as Focaccia and Ciabatta. This is further enhanced by authentic Italian Cheese and meats as well as use of herb such as Basil with a flavor packed pesto. Second, the scones are re-imagined as delicious homemade panettone both Classic and Raisin, and the lashings of homemade jam are paired with mascarpone instead of the more traditional cream. Finally, the top tier is a treat of pastries transformed into the best of Italian desserts and baking with a mini Tiramisu and stunning Chocolate almond cake tempting you.

A pot of tea or coffee is provided to go with this innovative Afternoon Tea, but of course when celebrating all things Italian we recommend a more authentic beverage such as our lovely range of sparkling wines from Italy including both Prosecco and the less well known Franciacorta, which is a traditional method sparkling known as the Italian champagne. Italian Afternoon Tea is £29 per person including tea and coffee. Accompany with Prosecco for £8 per glass or Franciacorta for £10 per glass.

Located at the Barbican Centre second floor with lovely views across the city, the restaurant specialises in bold, ingredient-focussed Italian cooking in the bistronomy style that Demetre has helped to pioneer. The menus change regularly, with a focus on Italian produce and seasonality. Following an exciting year since opening, Osteria have decided to look at the most English of institutions and embark on an Italian takeover!
