Swords and Sandals: outdoor cinema season

Guildhall Yard embraces the epic with a series of Roman inspired films. Classic or cult, it’s time to enjoy some of your all-time favourites and indulge guilty pleasures:

• Monday 7 August: Life of Brian
• Tuesday 8 August: Pompeii
• Wednesday 9 August: Roman Holiday (yes, she wears
sandals!)
• Thursday 10 August: Jesus Christ Superstar
• Monday 14 August: Carry on Cleo
• Tuesday 15 August: Gladiator

Delivered in partnership with Pop-Up Screens and supported by the Barbican, this is one (inflatable) summer screen not to be missed. Come prepared for all weathers; bring a picnic, someone to feed you grapes, plenty of blankets and cushions and settle down to enjoy swords, sandals, superstars, silliness, songs and sheer sauce on the site of London’s first entertainment arena.

Plus: burgers from Hawksmoor, beer and cocktails and
pop-up events and talks (selected evenings). There’s also
the chance to see how the Roman’s did it – visit London’s
Roman Amphitheatre which will be open until 9pm.
