Reprieve & Dartmouth Films are proud to present this one-off screening of The Penalty, followed by a panel discussion with special guests.
THE PENALTY follows three extraordinary people as they embark on journeys of recovery, discovery and rebellion and find themselves centre stage in the biggest capital punishment crisis in modern memory. The film unearths an America where grieving families, botched executions and wrongful convictions force us to question what we think we know about the death penalty.
The Penalty (86mins), will be followed by a panel discussion with Allen Bohnert (protagonist & Assistant Federal Public Defender for the Southern District of Ohio), Maya Foa (Director, Reprieve), Billy Moore (who spent 17 years on death row in Georgia before being released) and the film's director Will Francome.
About Reprieve - Founded in 1999 by British human rights lawyer Clive Stafford Smith, we provide free legal and investigative support to some of the world’s most vulnerable people: those facing execution, and those victimised by states’ abusive counter-terror policies – rendition, torture, extrajudicial imprisonment and extrajudicial killing.
The Screening Room is located on the LG (Lower Ground) Floor of the South Wing.
