“Samara” is a six-piece jazz/Latin group led by 606 Club owner Steve Rubie that has proven to be one of the Club’s most popular bands since their formation over 20 years ago. The pianist Neil Angilley works with Vanessa Mae, Shirley Bassey and “Down to the Bone”, Dill Katz, the bass player is visiting professor at the Guildhall, Nic France the drummer has played with just about everyone, including Dave Gilmore (Pink Floyd) and Bill Withers and the singer Liliana Chachian is considered to be one of the finest Brazilian singers currently working in Europe. And tonight Samara's Special Guest will be one of the UK's finest Jazz saxophonists, the multi-award winning Tim Whitehead, who will be joining the lineup for London Jazz Festival to add just that extra bit of spice, power and fun. The music is an infectious blend of Brazilian samba, jazz/Latin and soul, and we all have a great time.
“Cracking Latin-jazz quintet led by 606 proprietor Steve Rubie on flute and alto saxophone…explores these Latin jazz classics in great rhythmic style” Time Out; “Tim Whitehead...the finest tenor player in Britain today'' Jazz Review
