Becoming English while remaining deeply Italian.
Expat Underground tells the comic story of the clash between Cecilia, a modern migrant, and London, contemporary El Dorado craved by generations of young Europeans. Cecilia arrives in London to try and create the future she has in mind: becoming English while remaining deeply Italian. Among hundreds of unlikely jobs, new friendships and encounters with the most varied personalities, Cecilia finds herself alone in facing the chaos and thousands of lights of a multi-ethnic London, where making one’s desires become a reality turns into a titanic endeavour.
“When a show arouses this kind of empathy it not only proves its worth, but the worth of theatre as a medium, [...] when it comes to feelings, we all come from the same place.” - Live London Post
