Pay With A Poem
Julius Meinl Offers Free Coffee On World Poetry Day

London March: This World Poetry Day, Viennese coffee roasters, Julius Meinl, is set to launch its fifth annual Pay With A Poem initiative across cafes and restaurants in London. On Wednesday 21st March, creatives and coffee lovers can swap out plastic for prose and claim a free coffee at 17 locations across the city!

This year’s campaign will see critically acclaimed singer songwriter, JP Cooper create a song to celebrate poets from around the world to showcase how music can be a gateway to enjoying poetry. In a bid to make poetry ever more accessible and cultivate creativity, Julius Meinl and JP Cooper invite people from 40 countries around the world to try their hand at poetry, using their favourite songs and musicians for inspiration.

Those who get creative can pay for their coffee or tea with a poem at locations across the city from Soho to Stratford. To get involved, customers need only write a poem at one of the locations (below) to claim a free coffee or tea.

Popular café Balans has joined the initiative this year, and will activate the campaign at seven locations across London. Balans’ Operations Manager, Kieran Crosby said: “We couldn’t be more excited to be a part of this global movement, and to give our customers a chance to experience the music and poetry worlds intertwining alongside JP Cooper. This campaign grows year on year and we’re excited to see our customers’ response and the benefits of such a culturally connected event.”
