For NOW Gallery’s Art Commission, Laura Aldridge and James Rigler are creating a dual metaphorical and physical garden that appeals to the senses – the sound of water, the smell of the earth and the rustle of vibrant fabric in the light breeze. The sense of refuge and recovery that embody memorial gardens, romantic landscapes and even the humble allotment will be plentiful in the sculptural language of Indirect Sunlight.

Visitors are invited to make a newspaper pot, plant a seed, take it home, watch it grow, document it and take part in #indirectsunlight Post a photo online of your plant’s progress for a chance to win cocktails at Craft London. Seeds available are salad leaves, nasturtiums, runner beans and cucumber; and these are growing in the artists’ planters as part of the installation.

Aldridge and Rigler are Glasgow-based artists and work in a variety of media creating a dialogue with form and colour. NOW Gallery is the starting point for a creative site they have taken over, this sculptural garden will change slowly during the summer months. This exhibition is a rural retreat; a place for contemplation away from the hustle and bustle of the capital.
