Following the success of previous events Mycenae House is hosting another innovative, fun, community micro-granting dinner called 'Mycenae Soup' on the evening of 19th October based on ideas gained from the BBC documentary ‘Detroit Soup’.
The idea behind this micro-granting dinner is simple but clever. Guests donate a minimum of £10 (plus booking fee) to enjoy a night out, entertainment and a good meal which have been all been gifted by local companies. During the meal local charities, community groups, initiatives and social entrepreneurs will pitch their proposal to the diners who will then vote on which project receives funding from the money raised that night.
The previous sold-out events raised £1,279 for the Mental Health Activity Trust which provides employment opportunities for people with mental health issues, and £1,287 for Greenwich Mencap's Support for Siblings project to support children who have a sibling with a learning disability or autism.
So what’s not to love - A Great Night Out, A Good Meal, and the Support of mutually beneficial community projects.
