SOHO SINGS FOR CHAS AND DAVE IN FIGHT AGAINST FULLER’S MCPUBIFICATION

• The Coach and Horses, Soho, home of the traditional pub sing-along, is hosting an all-day tribute to Chas and Dave, Sunday 14th Oct, 12 to 10.30pm
• Ditch Netflix this Sunday and gather around the piano and join singers including, Sing-a-long John, Mister Luke Meredith, Baz and Dave and Magic Betty
• The Coach and Horses is one of the last traditional boozers left in London and is fighting against Fuller’s ‘McPubification’ to remain independent and landlord run

Norman’s Coach and Horses, the home of the traditional pub Sing-A-Long, is hosting an all-day sing-A-long tribute to the great Chas Hodges, in a bid to raise awareness of Fuller’s intended hostile takeover.

Chas Hodges was born in the same year that the infamous Norman Balon who ran the pub for 63 years. Alastair Choat, who has owned the pub since 2006 and the year Norman retired, introduced the piano in 2008. Since then every Wednesday and Saturday night Greek Street is filled by the melodies of cheery pub goers.

So, if you are looking for some real London this weekend visit the Coach and Horses, Soho and sing not just as a tribute to Chas and Dave but to help save one of London’s greatest treasures.
Alastair Choat, owner of Coach and Horses added.

‘I put the piano back in 2008 to help keep the Coach’s soul alive. It’s a traditional English boozer with bags of character. So many pubs are like chain’s now. Pubs should be a place to gather, drink a few pints, meet friends, make friends and sing to your heart’s content. Chas and Dave’s music epitomises that spirit and their songs have always been some of the favourites in the Coach.

‘We’ve lost so many pubs over the last few years and the majority of those that survive are being turned into McPubs that don’t have any individuality. In contrast, we have gone the other way, back to the piano and singing. Unfortunately, all of our work will soon be undone by Fullers who are planning a hostile takeover in June 2019 so they can serve packaged pies and plain pride. This sing along is a tribute to all that is great about proper pubs – Chas and Dave epitomised this.”
