A lovely singer with a multi-faceted musical background, Helen Louise Jones participated in musical theatre and school choirs as well as learning a number of instruments and taking Latin American & tap dance classes as a child. With influences including Fred Astaire, Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand, it was only natural that she would go on to study jazz and gospel singing at Goldsmiths College, singing with the Glenn Miller Orchestra and further developing her love of jazz & improvisation to include the music of Miles & George Benson. Her curiosity then led her to explore a variety of other genres, and after moving to India, though continuing her passion for jazz she soon was working with Eastern and world music projects as well. Now back in London, Helen has lately been performing with ensembles including Little Bighorn and her own group Citraflection and for this 606 lunchtime show, will feature a classic vocal jazz repertoire, along with jazzy arrangements of the occasional popular tune. Accompanying Helen will be Chris Jerome-piano, Miles Danso-bass and Sophie Alloway-drums.
