Ninety One Living Room’s June programme presents a new and refreshing selection of live events, sure to pique the interest of even the most discerning of culture vultures. The newly introduced Friday night live event at Ninety One Living Room, Original Roots, returns with a series of refreshing artists alongside favourites. To coincide with the new programme, Ninety One has also launched a new night dedicated to the finest jazz performances.

Kicking off June’s live programme on Friday 7th June is Brazilian jazz group, London Bossa Quartet. Dedicated to exploring the richness of Brazillian jazz music, the quartet creates a vibrant and unique sound guaranteed to leave you feeling inspired. Bringing favourites back to the stage, Ninety One also introduces a new jazz lates series beginning on Saturday 8th June with special guest Sahra Gure. Expect to be taken on a transparent journey through love, pain and joy as Sahra tells stories through song, performing music from her upcoming EP ‘Love me with me’ alongside music from some of her favourite artists. Bringing a unique blend to Friday 14th, Afla Sackey and Afrik Bawantu, perform a refreshing blend of vibrant African rhythms with fast, animated horn sections and heavy bass lines.

Arriving for a special show on the 15th June, Ninety One welcomes rising star Ife Ogunjobi, a driving force in the jazz world. Ife has performed with some of the biggest international stars including Solange Knowles and Wande Coal. Back after six years away, Peter and Kerry return with their first headline show on the 16th June. Bringing together an intricate blend of harmonies and melodies they are not to go unnoticed.

Finishing off an eventful June is the super talented Kongo Dia Ntotila on the 21st June, bringing a blend of Africa’s finest dance music styles, dancing their way to revival and modernisation, with a neat dose of jazz. Starting off as an acoustic trio in 2013, Samba Azul comes to Ninety One as an electric nine-piece, bringing the spirit of Brazil to the heart of Hackney.

Arriving just in time for the official start of summer is Dele Sosimi for a summer residency from the 12th July all the way through to August. Dele Sosimi stands out as one of the most active musicians currently on the Afrobeat scene worldwide. The 13th July welcomes the incredible Otis Selimane Quintet, Supporting Otis Selimane Quintet is Mbirofonia Duo, a duet that emerged thanks to the encounter of two musicians, Otis Selimane Remane (Mozambique) and Eduardo Scaramuzza (Brazil). The 6th July sees a special performance by critically acclaimed Clement Regert’s Wild Card, a melting-pot of musical ideas, fusing urban rhythms, Hard-bop and grooves with Latin and jazz attitude.
