A star-studded cast is gathering at The Other Palace studio on Wednesday 28th August for a reading of John Warrington’s new black-comedy musical, Living the Dream. Brian Capron (who played Coronation Street bad boy, Richard Hillman), Diane Keen, Bill Fellows, Debbie Arnold and Stephen Donald are among those taking part.
The full production is opening next year but this reading represents the opportunity to catch a sneak preview of the play as well as see some well-known actors close up in an intimate setting.
Tickets are priced at just £8.50 which is remarkable value to see such an illustrious cast in action in London. The narrative is based on the true story of a letter that football icon George Best received from a former Romanian political prisoner in 1994. The letter stated that he and John Lennon had given hope to many prisoners because they were the essence of the word, “freedom”.
Moving to the present day, Ana is on her death bed. Struggling to pass peacefully, the mystery surrounding the murder of her parents remains unanswered. In a morphine induced coma, the spirits of George Best and John Lennon arrive to take Ana on a magical mystery tour in a bid to help her discover the truth.
