The internet had taken its first breath.

Fifty years later, we're revisiting the original principles of the internet while forecasting what its future will look like.

50 Years of the Internet will feature an evening of engaging talks and discussion from industry experts, revisiting the original principles of the world wide web and forecasting its future, half a century after carrying its first message.

Peter Kirstein, UCL professor and “father of the UK internet" will deliver a keynote speech, reflecting on his achievements from putting the first computer on the internet outside of the US and giving Queen Elizabeth II her first email address.

To complement this, the evening will include talks from the likes of Eva Pascoe, founder of Cyberia (the world‘s first internet cafe chain) and Alan Kay, the visionary who gave us the Xerox Alto and the inspiration for Tron. Attendees are invited to conclude the evening with networking drinks at Plexal.

Featuring a never-been-seen-before interview with Leonard Kleinrock, we'll also hear first-hand testimonies from some of the people who were there at the very beginning.
