"Modern Times, a 1936 silent comedy film, is the last occasion that Charlie Chaplin plays the iconic Little Tramp character, who struggles to survive in the modern, industrialized world. Unable to hold down a job in the oppressive environment of an industrialising society he routinely ends up in jail, mostly through no fault of his own. He also becomes friends with a young orphan girl and their relationship grows as they are united by their mutual struggle to survive and flourish in a world that has grown hostile to their class.

Modern Times is often hailed as one of Chaplin's greatest achievements, and it remains one of his most popular films. This showing of the film features live piano and woodwind accompaniment by Yosi Marshall who has previously performed at the Ealing Classic Cinema Club and Cafe Yukari, Kew.
