Live from London Summer

Paul Smith, with VOCES8 & Apollo5: Renewal? - ‘Renewal?’ is a concert which combines new commissions with three musical pillars from the 20th Century, by William Walton, John Cage and William Henry Harris. Singers, dancers and players work independently and together throughout this concert experience, sharing a 3-part story that has an array of possible endings. Audience members can choose to experience this concert on a number of levels; perhaps sit back and simply let the music wash over you, or take your time to consider the texts before, during and after the performance. The multifaceted texts by Lal Ded, Edmund Spenser, W.H. Auden, Lord Byron, Pablo Neruda, Maya Angelou and others offers thoughts about our world and about our past, present and future. Let the concert experience allow you the space to absorb, to think, to feel, and to draw your own conclusions. This concert has been created by Paul Smith and is directed by Paul and Barnaby Smith. Collaborators include composer Donna McKevitt, choreographer and dancer Giulia Tonelli, VOCES8, Apollo5, Caroline Dale (cello), Roger Chase (viola) Peter Holder (organ) and Teena Lyle (percussion).
