Award-winning cook and food writer Anna Jones brings the kitchen to life at Fora with a live food demo.

About this event

Anna is led by the joy of food and its ability to affect change in our daily lives.

Join us for this hour-long cookalong hosted by Mother Tongue founder and food trends consultant, Gurdeep Loyal. You’ll learn how to put vegetables at the centre of your table, how to create delicious, stylish, and sustainable food. Hear about inventive processes for layering textures and adding flavour, as well as top tips for cooking quicker and wasting less. Above all else, Anna will teach you how to enjoy the creative process of cooking.

A signed copy of Anna's book, One, will be up for grabs for the first 5 guests in the room.

If you can't attend the event in person, watch online and cook along! List of ingredients needed is below:

SERVES 2

FOR THE FLATBREADS
- 100g plain flour, plus extra for dusting
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 100ml plain yoghurt of your choice, plus extra to serve

FOR THE FILLING
- olive oil
- 1 small or 1/2 a medium red onion, thinly sliced
- 250g piece of butternut squash, grated
- 1 teaspoon ras el hanout
- 50g pistachios, shelled
- a small bunch of coriander
- 1 teaspoon pomegranate molasses, plus extra for drizzling
- 50g feta or vegan feta-style cheese
- a pinch of urfa chilli flakes/ pul biber (optional)
- the seeds of 1/2 a pomegranate

ABOUT Anna Jones

Anna Jones is a cook, writer, the voice of modern vegetarian cooking and the author of the bestselling A Modern Way to Eat, A Modern Way to Cook, The Modern Cook’s Year, and most recently, One.

Her books are sold in ten countries and have been translated into five languages. The Modern Cook’s Year won the coveted Observer Food Monthly Best New Cookbook Award and The Guild of Food Writers Cookery Book Award. ABOUT Gurdeep Loyal

Gurdeep Loyal is a Food Writer and Consultant who built his career at Innocent Drinks, Harrods Food Halls & Restaurants, and most recently as Head of Trends for Marks & Spencer Food.

He is also curator of the online platform MotherTongueTV.com which celebrates food stories of migration, race and culinary identity. He has a monthly column in Olive Magazine and his first cookbook ‘Mother Tongue – Flavours of a Second Generation’ is set for release in 2023.
