This Christmas, prepare to be swept up in a whimsical world of planets and stars on an enchanting new light trail at Hampton Court Palace. As dusk falls across this magnificent former royal home, an atmospheric, fantastical wonderland of clocks, moons, planets and sundials is just waiting to be discovered.

Lose track of time as you explore the historic cobbled courtyards and gardens, filled with magical illuminations inspired by the palace’s famous astronomical clock; the ticking Tudor heart of Hampton Court installed by command of King Henry VIII.

From breath-taking illuminations and glowing lanterns to mesmerising projections, the incredible clock is brought to life like never before to reveal its many mysteries and the meaning behind the strange symbols on this legendary dial.

Our light trail winds through some of the palace’s stunning gardens and across a flickering moonlit ball in the East Front Gardens. You can hear ancient trees as they whisper their secrets and peek into mysterious miniature shadow worlds before being transported to another planet in the deepest depths of the Wilderness, once home to King Charles II’s formal pleasure garden.

Along the way, indulge in seasonal food and drink, as you experience the palace gardens after-hours as you've never seen it before.

Enjoy a magical Christmas treat, perfect for all the family.

The tour is well done, but make sure you go when it's properly dark so you get the full effect of the lights. The artistic designs of fish and ladies dancing are particularly beautiful.

Beware of the extortionate food and drink prices at the stalls - £5.50 for a handful of fries, £5 for a cup of mulled wine, £3 for a cookie etc - totally disgraceful.

This was very poor. The lighting was dim and there was no magic about it at all. Very cheaply done
